The wedding is less than two months away and it's getting stressful.
We went into Debenhams to order my suit last weekend and was told by some po-faced cuntbag that the store was not ordering suits in at the moment, and we should try again in Sept/Oct. I didn't believe her for a second. She had a very defensive posture and kept referring to the fact that the stock 'wasn't available on the computer anymore'. Everything about her screamed lies. She obviously didn't like the look of me/us, (Shorts? In Debenhams! And is that a lip piercing? Oh no, it just won't do...) and decided to fob me off with some bullshit story. What she didn't count on is that I'm going to find out if for definite if it was true. If so, fine I'll go somewhere else. If not, I'm marching back in there and putting in an official complaint against the twat. And maybe kick her in the shins on the way out, depending on how I feel.
Hobbes is currently trying to catch a moth he brought in, which flew off the second he opened his mouth, so he's being very shouty. Yesterday it was a spider and the day before it was another moth. We try to release them without him seeing so as not to hurt his feelings (they're offerings of love so we have to fuss him when he brings stuff,) and so he won't just go and catch it again.
I was tempted to do a video blog after seeing Vermin's sterling effort, but decided against it this time, mainly because Pinklet has gone to bed. Perhaps next time.
There's not much else to tell at the moment, as we can't afford to do anything or go anywhere. We've been watching Battlestar Gallactica which Pinks bought for us and playing Fallout 3. We've had possibly 2 trips to the pub in the last 2 months. I've been doing some illustration stuff here & there (see below for latest,) and reading about web design.
I've been converting/hacking a myspace page at work recently and although it's interesting, it's something of a pain in the arse. Work is still generally shit. The boss is off for 3 weeks (woohoo!) at the moment and back a week on monday, but we've got that week off for Pinks' birthday!
Work rant... skip through to the funny picture if you like.
I got to work from home last Friday, coding the Myspace page and it did nothing but convince me that I'd like nothing better than to work from home, rather than driving 44 miles per day to a place I don't like to work for a man I hate with people who split 50-50 into those who I like and those who I dislike.
This means I need to get my portfolio site done, along with at least 3 websites and several illustrations but with the wedding coming up and the recent house move (we're still unpacking, the house is a tip and at current rates, we won't be having the housewarming until after the wedding, possibly next year!), there's just so much to do...
Despite my massive moan, I stand by what I said to my Dad on the phone the other night: This is the happiest I've been. I have a wonderful wife and two great 'kids' (I mean the cats... at least for now.) and I earn enough to go out for the occasional beer once in a while when I'm not trying to pay for a wedding. That's pretty good going.
Anyway, here's a self portrait, done in Illustrator to practice using it:
