Life is pretty good right now. In fact I can't remember the last time I felt this good for this long.
We've put deposits down on the rings and talked to the venue more about arrangements and food. All good. I've been designing the invites, but it seems we might have to send out some 'phantom' invites - i.e. to family members who we hope don't actually turn up, mainly because we can only have 38 guests and it would mean some friends not being able to go, but we'll have to send them in order not to offend people by not inviting them. The whole thing is fucking ridiculous, but there we go. I'm not really a big 'family' person. I have a small core set of relatives I'm close to but the rest can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned. I choose my friends carefully so I don't see why I should have to pretend to like some odious twat just because we're related by blood, or worse - marriage. If they're nice people, then fine but if not, I'm not playing happy families for the sake of it, I've got better things to do with my time. </rant>
We've seen An Axe play as a two piece and very good they were too. Unfortunately I got a bit drunk and decided to give Kristoph some advice. Meant with the best of intentions but I felt a bit silly about it the next day. Luckily he took it as my booze addled mind had intended it.

Thursday was an amazing day for a couple of reasons:
Firstly we went to a local brewery for a tour for a friend's birthday.

Despite having the worst taxi driver ever on the way there, (he didn't know where it was, drove really badly and tried to program his sat nav while going around a large roundabout on a dual carrigeway!) we arrived in one piece. The guy doing the tour showed us around and gave a little talk on the company history and how the beer was made etc. He was really nice and the tour was really interesting and he encouraged us to drink rather a lot. Basically every time he saw that one of our group had an empty glass, off we had to go to top up and we were welcome to top up any time we liked, as often as we wanted. I'm pretty sure we all got our money's worth and we can now say we have at least one friend who CAN organise a piss up in a brewery. (Yes I've been using that joke a lot, but fuck you - I like it.
) We ended the evening with more booze and a pizza in town before staggering home. I was a wee bit hungover for most of today.
Secondly, my stepdad got the all clear. He'd been for an MRI for suspected throat cancer, so hearing he was ok was a massive relief.
What else? Work has been crazy busy, but sometimes I prefer it that way. We had a bbq today and
Pinklet stepped into the breach as bbq chef:

My review has been put back until next week. I'm not really bothered as I doubt it'll go brilliantly as the last two haven't. Despite the fact that I keep 2 companies running, online and functional, never mind all the extra stuff I do which really isn't in my job description, my colleagues always seem to find plenty to gripe about. My line manager (who I like,) will be doing it, but the MD (who I don't,) will be 'sitting in'. My line manager has had part of his review today and basically told the MD what he thought of him and the company and he's told me to do the same. Should be fun.
I've been applying for other jobs. I like working in this industry and I like the actual work I do but the people bug me and the management is a fucking disgrace. There is no planning for anything, it's always:
Boss/colleague: (Walks up to my desk while I'm doing something technical and just starts speaking at me,) " Oh we need (request for a large amount of work)."
Me: "Oh ok, yeah I can probably look into srarting to plan for that next week. When do you need it by?"
Them: " Uh... well, tomorrow."
Me: Glares and huffs.
Everything seems to be done on a whim and the only reason it bugs me is because I actually give a shit. All I see is wasted potential in that company and it bugs me.
Anyway, I'll cut myself off there for fear of ranting endlessly.
So we have a three day weekend, which is awesome. I'm hoping to get a set of icons I'm designing finished and maybe some work on a website done as well as some secret personal projects, but life has a way of getting in the way, but sometimes in the nicest way - I'm looking at you Miss Pinklet, soon to be Mrs Narshada!

Some random pics from Bristol:

You have to imagine the sad, 'walking away' music from the Incredible Hulk to that last one.
Lastly, I'm thinking of wearing my beard like this for the wedding:
