Well I beat the BBC.
Actually it was really dull. I'd geared myself up for a fight and they listened to me, put me on hold to check the details and then totally backed down. Kind of an anti-climax.
Work got slightly better for a short while after my MD had a word with everyone about how stressed I am. People started thanking me for doing stuff or understanding that I couldn't drop everything and look at their problem there and then.
It was essentially a short lived reprieve. My boss badgered me to fix his email on the new Macbook that cost more than 3 computers that I could've bought for other people. Instead of consulting me he bought Office for Mac - Home and Student edition, which oddly doesn't have the functionality required to connect to a business email server. I wonder why? So I bought another copy for him (at an extra cost of 399 - which could have bought another computer,) and spent another afternoon trying to get it to work and finally succeeding. I wouldn't mind but we can get our mail through webmail and I'd previously synched his Iphone to get his email so it's not like he was missing out.
I hate him so much I actually wish him physical harm, which is about as bad as I've ever felt about another human being, no matter how despicable. That puts him in a special group with John 'Cunt' Prescott and George 'W for Wanker' Bush Jr.
This week has got gradually worse. I've managed to catch the office cold just in time for my week off. Tonight we were going to see Watchmen but traffic and work conspired against us and we got there just in time to not be able to buy tickets. Not only that but this inspired a truly fucking absurd argument between me and Pinks about the usability of cinema times and I'm still awake because I'm in such a bad mood I can't sleep.
Oh well. At least I have Friday off and all next week and I get to spend it playing with my new Macbook pro which I pick up on Friday.
Yes I'm going Mac. I've finally realised that my hatred of them was simply fear of the unknown. I didn't know how to find stuff on them, or how they worked etc. Since having to play with my bosses Macbook, I'm amazed how easy installing or uninstalling applications is. I like the one, two, three and four finger gestures you can do on the new trackpads and think that gestures may feature highly in the future of computing interfaces (think Minority Report.).
Also the terminal is just a bash shell so the Linux commands I learned for Ubuntu will still work for the most part. I have the benefits of things like being able to run Photoshop over Linux, whilst keeping many of Linux's other benefits, (lack of viruses etc.)
Finally, I can run parallels and install both Windows and Linux on it as well!
One laptop, 3 operating systems, no waiting!

Audiobook-playing speakers on crossings. Way of the future!
