And now, the end is near... and so I face... the final few hours of weekend...
Bah. Another weekend has flown by and it's back to work tomorrow. Meh.
It's been a fairly chilled weekend and I did get some of my self confidence back after the whinings of the last blog. The next day in fact, I was back reading article after article on web design/development and feeling a bit better.
Last week at work was decidedly poo though. Loads of annoying crap to the point I barely got to work on the site at all. By Wed or Thurs I was thoroughly fed up with it all and spent about an hour updating my profile on Monster. Not a lot going on in terms of web work though, at least not when I was searching around here. Everyone wants stuff I can't do or else 2 yrs minimum experience, and we find ourselves faced with the old Catch 22. Meh.
I'm still working on one web design project and if I'm honest, the design side of things is kicking my ass at present. I'm happy enough writing copy and code, but layout is a little tricky and colour schemes - well, I seem to be having a little difficulty.
My line manager and I have had brief discussions about setting up in business together. He knows all about google rankings, SEO, analytics, affiliates programes etc and is also a dab hand with design and I can put the site together using XHTML and CSS, Javascript and PHP etc. We get on well and I think we would work well together but I'm not totally convinced he'll ever make it out of there and set up in business, despite best intentions. We'll see.
Anyway we had a talk about having a talk over a pint about it all and he said "I'll design them, you can code them up." At first I was a tiny bit offended, although I didn't say anything. I did art up to A level and have been using Photoshop for years, for everything from painting, (also see here for one of Miyo) to photo retouching, etc and I figured I could design sites, but the trouble I've had with this one site so far... maybe I'm not cut out for design after all. I guess I'll just keep working at it.
Yesterday I bought this:
which was really good, but a tad pricey at 28. Pinks had no idea that's how much computer related books cost and nearly swooned.
I'm also reading this:
albeit slowly, but I managed to pick it up in the Zavvi sale for 2.79m which at over 1000 pages I think was something of a bargin.
As always, out life is filled with cats, which constantly makes me happy. After a rough day, having one of these furry fruitloops plonk down in your lap is the best sure for stress ever.

That middle cat picture is awesome. It's a great pre-fight moment.

Yes, 2.79m on a book is a tad excessive for a web book, but he tells me it'll make us rich?!?
