Hello again, my friends in SG land. This week I have been blessed with the Shoe from Peru, a project by my friends at 15x100 (Fifteen Photographs by One Hundred Photographers). I had to send her off in the mail today to British Columbia where the next member awaits. From there it goes to Montreal, which is its last stop in North America. Europe is next. So far we have only released teaser images of the shoe (and I will show one of mine below).
15x100 is a group of 100 photographers spread throughout the globe. One of the ideas for a group project was to send an object to each of our members to photograph with their own interpretations and methods. A member from Lima, Per had a small black shoe made of patent leather that was washed up on shore from the 1998 El Nio. There were thousands of childrens' shoes scattered everywere from the storm but for some reason she kept this one. The shoe's incredible journey inspired us to send it on an even more incredible journey to our members on 6 continents! It has already been through South and North America. Mine was to be the last stop, but two Canadian members were away when the shoe went up north, so they will be the last before it heads to Europe.
Here is one of my digital interpretations, I have not had my film developed yet:
"Shine a Light on Despair"
Shoe from Peru
2009
Ps. Not only was this an excellent location to shoot the shoe, it would make a great backdrop for a SG set...
