I wish I could say something like "good for you, your life is going to be fixed now" or "good luck"... but, those would be lies. It's not easy to admit you have a problem, and even when people admit it they don't always seek out help. The road you're heading down now isn't an easy one, and you might have to try quite a few times. I don't know the ins and outs of your drinking habits, but I just want to tell you to be careful... depending on how much you drink and how often, it's medically dangerous to stop cold turkey. When my doctor told me that 6 years ago or so, I took it as an excuse to keep drinking. I knew I had a problem, knew that I needed help, but I was afraid. There were many things I was afraid of, but that is besides the point. My real point is - be careful. Detox centers exist for a reason. Not only am I an addict who has been my fair share of rehabs, I also worked in a detox facility for awhile.

Meetings were never my favorite thing... but they work for a lot of people. First time going? Just open your ears and listen. Talk to people.

Most of all, don't forget the moment when you realized you couldn't live like this anymore. Hold on to that feeling, you might need it.

I second caity. It's going to be a really tough road to go down, but eventually, you CAN get better. I never went to rehab, and part of me wishes I had.
Good luck!
