An open letter to people who pay other people to clean their pools,
1) When your pool was just opened, and I tell you that it will be a week or two before the pool clears up and looks nice, do not ask me "isn't there anything you can do?" Yes, there is. And I am doing it. If I could get it clean faster, do you not think I would do it? No, I do not have a bottle mof magic dust in my truck that will make your pool turn perfect over night.
1 a) Tipping me does not make your pool magically clean either. Though it is appreciated. But not expected, so don't sweat it.
2) I know you seem to think that if you don't hover over me while I work, and watch me like a hawk I am just going to take a shit in your pool, fuck your 12 year old daughter, leave, and bill you for six hours of work. But I won't. I want your pool clean as much as you do. A clean pool is a fuck lot easier for me to deal with. Leave me the hell alone.
3) I don't care that you are having a party on saturday. I don't care that you are showing your house to potential buyers this week. I just don't fucking care. I give the same service to everyone. I clean your pool, and do my best to make it stay as clean as possible until I come back next week. And no, I don't have the power to keep leaves/dirt/dead chipmunks from falling into your pool between services.
4) If you are going to insist on taking care of your pool between services, please make sure you know what the hell you are doing. When you fuck things up, it becomes MY problem. I don't care for that at all, and it could quite possibly wind up costing you money.
5) I clean pools for a living. I am not a maid, nor a baby sitter. If your kids are going to play in the pool, be a fucking parent and make them clean up after themselves. Their toys clog the equipment, and they get in my way.
6) No. No you can't swim in the pool while I clean.
7) Yes, cleaning pools in the rain is rather unpleasant. I don't need you to remind me of it. Shut up, and leave me the hell alone.
I don't ask for a lot from you people. Just let me do my work, and get to my next job. My days are long enough as it is without you yammering in my ear for twenty minutes.
Your not unfriendly pool guy,
MrStitches
