It's coming to the end of the year and the time when all the musos list their albums of the year. I was going to list my top ten, but this proving pretty difficult, as 2007 has been a good year for new releases, I am now going to list my top twenty. It could have been more, but I guess you must draw the line somewhere. So here goes......
- Sleepytime Gorilla Museum- "In Glorious Times"
- The Dillinger Escape Plan- "Ire Works"
- Bonnie "Prince" Billy- "The Letting Go"
- Iron And Wine- "The Shepherd's Dog"
- John Zorn- "Six Litanies For Heliogabalus"
- Hella- "There's No 666 In Outer Space"
- The Book Of Knots- "Traineater"
- Pelican- "City Of Echoes"
- Other Men- "Wake Up Swimming"
-Architects- "Ruin"
-Melt Banana- "Bambi's Dilemma"
-Battles- "Mirrored"
-The End- "Elementary"
-Thurston Moore- "Trees Outside The Academy"
-Bill Callahan- "Woke On A Whaleheart"
-Wilco- "Sky Blue Sky"
-Caribou- "Andorra"
-Steve Earle- "Washington Square Serenade"
-Bjork- "Volta"
-Eyvind Kang- "Athlantis"
Best Newcomer- Beneath The Massacre- "Mechanics Of Dysfunction"
Best Reissue- Botch- "We Are The Romans"
Let me know what you all think. I know there are a few surprises in there, and I tend to change my mind from day to day anyway, and I know there is going to be lots of stuff out there that I just haven't got around to listening to, for one reason or another, not least of all budget. I hope you all have a suitably debauched yule and new year, wherever you are and whatever you are doing. Take care, Mr Bungle.
