very interesting point you make! thanx for the input. i guess i never thought of it from the view of a new business owner. i think, though, you HAD to have advertising only because everyone else did.

But if there were no advertising, product service and quality would have to speak for themselves, no? Then: good product=customers, crap=no customers. Not: good advertising=customers, person who spends the money and time on the service instead of advertising=no customers. that's not right.

I got my undergrad in public relations and worked in a marketing firm for several years and i'd just like to say this: it's a dirty job.

i guess everyone should have an outlet for representation though. but only if it's sought out, not forced into our consciousness. How about yellow pages, but not magazines? websites but not popups? storefront signs but not billboards?
