I noticed a series of odd bruises on my left thigh a few days ago. Since then I've been asking myself how on earth I have obtained so many marks without knowing the source. Well, today, it suddenly hit me when I was walking around the kitchen while baking a birthday cake for two girls at work. "BAM!" I ran straight into the mircowave cart. It's just the right height to hit me in the thigh and I am quite clumsy. Someone had pulled it out toward the door way when we were moving things around while looking for something, and it was never moved back. Case Closed!
I went with a friend of mine to see "The Reaping" today. It was pretty good, but I couldn't stop guessing what happened next. I was actually starting to freak myself out by how some of my guesses actually turned out to be right, but I wouldn't say that the movie is really all that predictable. We huddle together for a good hour and screeched like the little girls we are. Overall, I would suggest it, but don't come back to me and say, "It sucked. I can't believe you suggested that movie." I don't want to hear your bullshit.
Oh man, today a teacher cut himself on a saw at school. I'm standing outside with a group of people and I see an ambulance pulled around. Well, upon closer inspection, I noticed that someone was lying on the ground and half of the staff is running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I stood there for another few minutes and I noticed it was the guy that always made fun of my friend and myself for lounging on the sidewalk in the sun during lunch. He always called us dirty hippies. I like the guy and I hope he isn't too badly hurt.
Is it just me, or are old people (and I mean like 70's and 80's +) more dangerous behind the wheel than a high school kid. I know kids do stupid stuff and aren't all that experienced, but for christ's sake, atleast they can see over the steering wheel! And teenagers don't try to get on the interstate during 5 o'clock traffic going 25 mph. I nearly got ran over by a truck today because some old couple was trying to get over into my lane and they were going to do it regardless if i was in the way or not. I honked my horn and the man cut the wheel right and almost went off the road. I felt horrible, but he was trying to come over infront of me and the tailend of his Lincoln was gonna take me out. I couldn't drop down to 35 to let him over. I may drive a big ol' SUV, but there are vehicles much bigger than mine that could crush me like a can. I think that there should be tests for the elderly if they want to retain their licenses. Yes, even my own great-grandmother should have to do it. Young drivers have to jump through hoops, at least in TN, but blind old people aren't tested. I understand that it would be a difficult rule to enforce, but something has to be done.
EDIT: I've found a couple of sites that have statistics on the relation of age and car accidents. This one sums it up in the clearest form.
"Accidents by Age of Drivers
Drivers between the age of 15 and 20 accounted for only 6.9 percent of all licensed drivers, but were involved in 16.0 percent of all accidents and 14.0 percent of all fatal accidents. The fatality rate for drivers 16 - 19 is about 4 times as high as the rate for drivers age 25 - 69. However, the fatality rate for drivers age 70 and older is 9 times as high. "

I realize that this also supports that young drivers are a large danger to the road, but that comes greatly from a lack of intelligence (because we all have a heads up our ass) and experience. 70+ drivers account for a ridiculously high rate though. I support some sort of legislation that they must be tested like teenagers. They would take the license of a man that drives intoxicated because he chose to drive with impaired senses, making him a hazard, but what of a 83 year old man that has a hearing aid and is nearly blind and has slowed reactions? I'm sure some will claim that the comparison is terrible, but honestly, that's how I see it.

I luv mine cause it goes anywhere, in any kind of weather, and any kind of road conditions. Plus my sister is a single mom, so I can take her and her kids in it and we can do day trips to places easily. And we take it to football games. It costs a bit to gas up, and I get some dirty looks, but fuck em. When they make an economical suv that has an engine that gives me decent power in the snow, I'll buy one.
