I got diabetic ketoacidosis on Friday after my insulin pump cathata came out without my knowing, so my blood glucose level continued to rise until I was critically unwell and had to call 999. I was trying to correct my blood glucose for hours but only realised my insulin hadn’t been going in when in a&e. The vomiting was too aggressive to retain any water so I knew I needed multiple drips for hydration and insulin etc (because I suffered ketoacidosis once before), and I was becoming delirious with the pain and nausea. Luckily I caught it early enough to only be in intensive care for 3 days as opposed to 2 weeks like last time. Here’s some of my insta notes I made along the journey :
I’ve spared the videos for now but have shared the 3 drip track cathata bruises from just my right arm for those who aren’t squeamish..
Anyone suffering similarly cripppling chronic illnesses?
