Holy Mother of God, I'm tired. This week has been insanely busy, and I'm waiting with bated breath for tomorrow. I'm in the midst of teaching this giant writing unit to my 10th graders, and it's something I haven't done in the past, so I'm spending upwards of three hours a night prepping and preparing a lesson plan for the following day.

And yet part...

Yeah, the loans are going to be a mega-bitch. But I do not intend to work anywhere that I don't fully support. I'm planning to go about it like I did college: study and attend class 8 hours a day, sleep 8 hours a day, work 8 hours a day. I'm not gonna have a lot of debt here (scholarships) and I'm just crossing my fingers that it will work out in law school too.

Does that mean you've been there? I want to go to Ireland soooo bad right now, Joyce has ruined me for the rest of Europe.
I really like Ulysses, but i think its pretty impossible to read without a little guidance and a lot of time. Dubliners is much more manageable. Portrait is bothering. I feel like I don't get it because I'm not catholic and I don't have a penis.

-ps- i'm from va too. Bet you just love the S.O.L.s.

Well, the first full week of school is over, and now it's time to take stock. Students seem to be doing well, I've only had one night where I passed out before 9 p.m., and I even found time to go out to Hooters for dinner last night (it was my girlfriend's idea).

I think Hooters has a bit of an identity complex. It needs...

On the subject of Hooters, which I actually meant to comment on two days ago and forgot, I agree that the outfits are disappointing. However, if they were any more revealing it wouldn't be considered a family restaurant now would it? lol Not that I would take my kids in there mind you! lol BUT, I didn't think the food was too bad. Of course, I had been drinking, so that might explain things. Everything tastes good in conjunction with alcohol!

Yeah, I'm actually on Fluoxetine too, but I figured most people wouldn't know what that was! lol I like to make things as simple as possible! lol I would probably make a good elementary school teacher! HA!

Yeah, you do have a point on the "family restaurant" argument. I've seen some pretty skimpy outfits waltz into family restaurants. I guess it all just depends on what the establishment is advertising.

The only time I really think about being short (5'2") is when I buy pants. To every pair I purchase I have to add approx. $10-12 to have them shortened. It's not really that much of a pain in the ass, but it would be nice to buy a pair of pants and be able to wear them the next day. As it is I...

We're both a little adverse to trying to switch a great friendship into something romantic, plus he's got 'issues' at the moment which doesn't make him a great candidate for a boyfriend.

And I'm 5'2 as well! Probably not as hard for me as it is for you, because I just bought giant shoes to prevent me from having to get everything hemmed!
user0358038503895:
you could buy girl pants. girl pants are better for boys anyway.

I'm reading "Brave New World" for the seventh or eighth time right now. It's a great novel, but I don't know how many more times I can handle it. It's the curse of the English teacher.

My brother informed me that using a rolling machine to aid in the creation of cigarettes and other items is against the "smokers' code." I'm clearly unfamiliar with this social rule, else I certainly would not have purchased this: Rizla Rolling Machine

Thanks for the advice about the printer; I purchased a Canon i860 photo printer, and it has been awesome so far.

I need...

I'm looking to buy a photo printer. Anyone have any suggestions?

A lazy Sunday is a good Sunday.

I thank the stars for whomever invented the White Russian.

doublec:
thanks for the advice! kiss i get most of my stuff from secondhand stores...you can find cool old stuff...i might look at IKEA tho and i totally considered the cinder block and board thing but i need something fairly high so i was afraid of the precarious nature of a tall cinder block shelf...don't want to deal with THAT clean-up in one of our lovely Cali earthquakes! hahaha

i'm sorry, i don't have a recommendation for a good photo printer..never had much luck with printers...i mean they work ok but never as good as i expect! biggrin maybe i expect too much..hahaha

i had a pretty lazy sunday myself and am now enjoying a Skyy and OJ...mmmm...

hope you're doin' great! biggrin

The missus and I are back from a road trip--trying to settle back into the swing of things, get geared up for the beginning of school in about two weeks. There's so little to do and so much time...wait...reverse that.

On a lighter note, I bought a rolling machine today. Schwing!

Just got back from 9 days at Anytown Leadership Institute. It makes me realize how much hatred and injustice there is in the world, and how we need to do everything we can to stand up for the rights of others, especially those groups that have been marginalized and silenced throughout history.

People sometimes minimalize the effect that one person's voice can have, but Anytown...

I went to an organizational meeting for Kerry supporters this evening. We felt all political and democratic stuffing envelopes and waxing philosophic on Bush's idiocy.

Now I hear rumor that Bush is going to delay the election by arbitrarily elevating the terror alert, thereby necessitating a postponement of the Nov. ballot. What a tool.
madison:
hey fellow ohioan!
i registered to vote this year to vote out bush.
that's why he's doing that.
madison:
i haven't seen the movie. but want to!!!

Oh, the joy of antiobiotics!

After a quick trip to the doctor's office and a diagnosis of "acute pharyngitis," I'm feeling much better. I'll thank Pfizer for that one.

I hope everyone had a good 4th. I woke up yesterday morning feeling absolutely shitty...which is weird considering I felt perfectly fine the day before.

So I laid on the couch all day, watched Wonder Boys, Dogma, and Blazing Saddles. Mel Brooks continues to astound me; I don't think I've ever seen a movie that critiques racism so overtly.

I'm feeling a little better this...

Just got back from two kick-ass Phish shows in Noblesville, IN. My brother flew in from VA for the shows, and it was a great bonding experience. Smoked a lot, hung out, slept in the car, watched some of the best live music I've ever seen. More importantly, I saw my first Phish show during the band's final tour.

Now the countdown begins to VT.

i have an sg set on the way. wink
