i'm going down to the museum tonight with
my friend Erin... that is if she doesn't cancel
on me beforehand. They have a couple of good
shows there - one is a video installation show,
very interesting stuff. some of it I really don't
understand neither feel... but some is really cool.
there's this one it's a projection of a woman
taking a shower. What the guy did is he built
this very realistic shower booth with water and
steam, and projected an image of naked woman
taking a shower inside. Full size. It looks freaking
surreal, you're walking into this gallery room
and you see a girl taking a shower... crazy.
can you tell i've been to this show before?..
yeah, like 3 times. oh well, some stuff you
have to see several times to get. The whole video
installation art can be sort of deceiving.
It's very popular nowadays, but if you really get
down to it, half of it is bullshit... Actually there's
a museum in Germany in the city of Ulm, that
is all devoted to computer and video based art..
I spent a day there and a couple of pieces stuck
in my head forever. I mean they were that
powerful. Also there's a photography show
downstairs in the museum that's very peculiar.
Chromogenicaly processed images of suburban
houses. Showing how lonely they are. No people,
just maybe a light inside. It's really scary,
actually. I've walked many times, especially
during winter, in the suburban sections of the city
and got the feeling of total and utter depression
every time because there was no people on the streets.
It's like a freaking nuclear holocaust.
Everybody is hiding.
I've been contemplating about grad school lately.
that's a tough decision, really. what I want
to do is to get MFA in painting. but will I do
with myself after it's over. I could teach.
hm. The thing is I know so many people who have
gotten their MFAs and now are working in some
stupid job, and are ready to hang themselves...
I just think this is essential in my life, sort
of a finale of all these years of schooling...
yeah, you should never stop to learn things,
and educate yourself as far as your profession
goes. My boss always says - "if you think you
know if all, that's it, you've hit your limit. might
as well get out of the business". so, I don't know.

I say get the MFA if that is what you want to do.
how can you know everything there is/hit a limit when it comes to art?
Where'd you get that pic? Who is that? I love it.
