So I was out taking my dog for a walk this afternoon, and as I passed the old elementary school I used to go to I saw a group of kids standing around on the front steps. Nothing really noteworthy of this, it was an okay Sunday afternoon, a little cool but still sunny. It was when I saw one of the kids going over and stomping on a bicycle on the ground that I thought there may be something amiss, and when I heard the one kid yelling out for him to stop with that waver that only comes when you're crying I just dropped the leash and ran. I don't even know what I was thinking, but when I saw the smaller kid in tears and the five kids around him (the biggest one being the one who was stomping on the bike) I lashed out. Not physically, mind you, but yelling at these kids as if the next thing I was going to do was start breaking faces. They took off on their bikes, and the part of me that loathes cowards who gang up on someone- espescially someone smaller than them wanted to just run them down. I walked the kid back to his house, his parents weren't home, and I just said it would probably be smart if he stayed inside until later. I knew that these were kids he'd see often, and if he was out on his own, those little bastards would try to get even with him. I didn't really know what else I could do, other than give him words of advice, and make sure that my path back home with the dog would give me a view to see if they were going to harass him at his house. Im glad that I was able to be theres just in time to stop things, but I really wish there was more that I could have done.
