Things I would have done to make episode 3 a better movie:
I would have used classic style vehicles, such as the X, B and A wings. (In Ep 4 they have that old beat up look to them, which would make sense if they were old cast offs from the previous wars)
I wouldn't have used that lizard thing that Obi-Wan chased down grievous with. It made no sense why that thing wasn't filled with laser holes as soon as the big ass battle started. It was a massive target, and if you can hit and kill an armoured clone trooper, you could do the same to something four times as big. They could have used things already established as being part of the SW world, like a swoop bike for the same effect.
Greivous and Dooku. Would have made them less prison bitch and more imposing. Espescially Greivous- he served no real purpose other than as a model for a bunch more toys. Sure, some could say that he was forshadowing to Vader, but you could have had Dooku escape without his hands, and then be back (in classic Final Fantasy villain form) as a more dedly version with robotic parts.
Wookies were thrown in so that people would go "Cool, Wookies!" when they saw the trailer. The battle was of little consequence. Chewbacca and Yoda knowing each other was a bit of a stretch too. You could have had a divison of Wookie soldiers in the final battle and it would have been just as cool. (although, why would you want to risk the lives of individuals when you got an unlimited supply of essentially organic droids?)
Instead of the Jedi made into pussies all over the galaxy, it would have had far more effect (on me at least) if the final battlefield was somethwere of note, with the bulk of the droid and clone armies there for what would be a final showdown. The two armies clash with that whole 'whoever wins this one battle wins the war' sort air to it, with a small task force going after the leader- which when they destroy the leader the Droid army is shut down, take a beat for that whole 'we won!' to sink in, and then the Jedi turn to see the clones bringing aim on them. The Jedi fight hard (think a more dirty arena scene) and they know they're fighting for their lives and have essentially lost. This could have had a more emotional impact, just when you see the Jedi numbers getting smaller and smaller as theyre zerged by the clone army. The only Jedi who survive from this assault would be the Jedi who took out the leader (Yoda and Obi-Wan as it were)
But thats just some of my opinions, I could be wrong.
