I've been pondering on a possibly crazy idea for the last little bit...
I want to open up my own comic store. I like the job I'm at now (a comic place) and the only customers that get on my nerves are the internet access customers. But everytime I'm at work I'm thinking of ways that things could be done better there and stuff like that, and I sort of realized that if someone like my boss (messy and super-disorganized; I feel sorry for the accountant who has to go through the paperwork thats basically tossed into a shoebox) can keep a place open, I could too. I've been a geek of sort for most of my life (well, all of it if you want to be technical) I know comics, I know card and board games (and I learn new ones quick) I know roleplaying games, and can still hold a D&D conversation for half an hour even though I haven't played in a couple of years. Some kids had sports when they were young, I had Thunderground- the local comic place, and the owner was probably one of the shrewdest businessmen I've known. I've batted this idea with one of my best friends (who incidentally, I met at thunderground when I was just a wee lad) and he said he would be willing to move out here and help me open something like that if we wanted to take it to the serious planning stage (It's the accounting kind of stuff that scares the bejeezers out of me more than any chance of failure. I know how to advertise, I know how to draw in customers, and more importantly, I know how to keep them. It's something of a compromise to some of my previous concerns about my life from before... I'd still be doing something I enjoyed doing, but I would at least be financially stable (assuming it all panned out)
Now I just need to talk to my family about this for some moral support and helpful tips on what I need to do to get started (My old man has his own business and my moms a certified accountant)
Now, off to work for me.

I certainly think that it would be worth your time to look into this in greater detail.
Seriously.
I think the comic biz sounds good, because it's something you love and something you'd want to put the effort into. I think you should definitely go for it, once you and the friend get all your info together.
And! I might not be on much tonight at all because I have some things to do around the house and need to try sleeping prior to 5 and 6 and 7am. I have to be up at 7 for class, and I think the reason I've been a total zombie is because I should go to bed around midnight or 1...my windown of sleep seems to close around then, and if it shuts, guess who can't close her eyes till after dawn?
