I'm really bad at beating addictions (i.e. very difficult for me), but I've managed to keep a few under control. I've managed to quit smoking twice before, successfully for years each time, but I'm back to smoking again. Same w/ other addictions, like going out, shopping, eating decadent foods, etc. Thankfully I've never had an alcohol or drug addiction. Although I HAVE had a dysfunctional addiction to a certain person...
In all cases, my best strategy was to manipulate each situation such that I had NO exposure, absolutely zero, to the addictive factor, no exceptions. Also having strong people around me to help keep me on track has helped. Eventually, I could be exposed to the addictive factor and resist.
Some addictions are harder to beat than others...
Good luck Sweetie!
i am the last person that can answer that! luckily i don't smoke...but when it comes to dieting....i can't not eat things. Food is one of the greatest things in the world.....and I can never keep a diet up for very long.
