Well, another birthday has come and gone. Nothing as eventful as the clouds parting and the hand of god giving me a high five or smiting people with thunderbolts, but it was an overally enjoyable one. I drudged through work ( I guess you could say that was the low point of the day, but then again, work is the low point of every day. I went to kickboxing as usual- I figured I should get a good workout if I was going to be taking in ample amounts of empty alcoholic calories over the weekend. I was getting ready to do a bit of pre-class bag work, and the head coach approached me, and said that even though the competitive team trials aren't for a couple months, and even though he hates having hunches about people because he's been let down by them before, he has a good hunch about me- and that there was a MMA (ultimate fighting for those not in the sport who have know idea what mma means
)fight opportunity in the beginning of august for me if I was interested. I leapt at it and asked whatever I needed to do, I'd get done. So now I have a huge goal ahead of me, and something to definitively drive me to push harder than ever.
The going out drinking aspect of the night somewhat paled in comparison, a little bummed because there were bars I prefer to go to that I couldn't because my friends ID wouldnt be accepted there- we made do, and really getting wobbly is getting wobbly, regardless of venue. Saturday held a bit of hanging out with some other people and my brother, who I haven't had a chance to really go out drinking with for a couple years- so that was definitely a plus and a bit. Other than that, things have been sort of the same day to day minutia, just counting down to the Canada Day festivities in Calgary.

It seems as though we will be doing Canada Day at High Park this year. Should be fun.
