my 2006 dedicated charity/welfare post.
firstly: i encourage all people to make at least one donation as their 'chrismas present' to an organisation, either humanitarian or animal welfare etc.
if your still unsure about spending your hard earned money one someone else, read this article.
Congo's wounds of war: more vicious than rape and imagine how much you would want someone to help you if this was your life.
How can you know that in your next life it wont be you?
My personal donations for the christmas season are going to
*Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders)
www.msf.org or australian site www.msf.org.au
Should be plainly obvious after reading the above article.
*UN Refugee Agency
http://www.unhcr.org.au/
(because i have come into personal contact this year with refugees who have escaped from countries, who are now living here trying to earn money to rescue the rest of their family, who are facing rape, torture and starvation every day - it is absolutley horrifying to hear their stories)
*World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA)
www.wspa.org or www.wspa.org.au for aussies
a favourite charity of mine for years, the work they do to help animal causes over the world is amazing.
even if you can only donate $25 to any one of these charities.. it all adds up.
I find it easy to do a deduction from my pay.. i dont notice it and dont have to worry about remembering.
anything you can do, whether a one off donation, a regular donation or even just becoming more informed and educating those around you will help.
and my rant for the christmas season?
ANIMAL DUMPING SEASON will soon begin. Animal shelters across the world are preparing for a killer January and Febuary, when people who have received animals as gifts realise they no longer want them anymore and dump them.
NEVER BUY ANIMALS FOR A GIFT and NEVER BUY FROM PUPPY FARMS OR PET SHOPS
you are only contributing to the horror.
BOYCOTT PET SHOPS AND PUPPY FARMS - they should be made illegal!
