The summer travel season is upon me, although it won't be quite as distant as it was last year, when I went to both Germany and Hawaii. But with the release of SubCulture #1 imminent, I need to get on the convention circuit and peddle a few books in hopes of making some sales.
Anyway, this Thursday I am off to Atlanta to visit some friends while the wife is with her mom and sister in Panama City. We've got plans to go to the Georgia Aquarium, see a braves game, and go to Medieval Times, where I have never been before.
The weekend after that I'm off to Charlotte for Heroes Con, where I'm setting up a booth and selling some comics. It's probably my favorite show of the year--it's large enough to have everything one could want, yet still small enough to be a pseudo-intimate setting.
After that, it's to Texas to visit my parents and my brother and his family. I haven't seen them since Christmas, so it will be good to see them again. I'm sure my brother and I will drink way too much beer, as we tend to do when we get together.
The weekend after that it's Alabama, where my in-laws have their annual family reunion. Lots and lots of people , lots of eating, and not a whole lot of privacy.
I then get a week off before San Diego Comic Con, which is the biggest convention in the world--over 100,000 people. It's my first one. I'm afraid that I might be getting too old to deal with that many people, but I have to be certain.
