Wow...I'm slacking on the updates. But this is what happens when I go to long between seeing my SGNC peeps! I suspect there will be some relief soon. Let's hope so!
On to the latest in the wonderful world of madman31, whoever the hell that is.
The trip to Texas to see the folks went well. My dad is still a big dork, and was trying to hard to keep me entertained, but I think that semi-retirement has mellowed him out somewhat. Now if I can just loosen that grip on his wallet, he might actually have fun and travel once in a while. My brother and mother are both trying to convince him to move out of Fort Worth into a smaller town, but he's afraid they won't be able to affort it on a fixed income. I've crunched the numbers, however, and I think it's quite possible. We'll see. I'll keep pressing.
The last trip of the summer begins tomorrow--to Chicago. Pravon and I are catching the Cubs/Diamondbacks game tomorrow afternoon (visiting Wrigley is a MUST for any baseball fan), and then its off to hours of drunken fun at Wizard World Chicago. It'll be my first Chicago show (50,000 folks, I hear) and my first show in my role as Managing Editor at Ape Entertainment. One of the things that I will have to do is look at portfolios of people who are trying to break into the industry. I guess I'll have to learn it old school--trial by fire. Hopefully I also will get some feedback on my own book, SubCulture.
That's it for now. School starts again on the 17th, but I'm pretty much ready for the students. Of course, I could be wrong....
