Life is good!
It's funny, and it sounds sappy, but I'm going through a very nice and positive period in my life, and there's no reason to think that things are going to change anytime soon.
For one thing, I've got a good job, where I am content and productive. I enjoy my work environment. So many people I know and talk with hate what they do, and that's a shame. Being content with your work certainly makes everything that much better.
The wife has a job now as well. Not only does our income essentially double, but I no longer am paying for her health insurance as well. That's the same as giving me a $6,000 a year raise. So together, the two of us are making more money than we ever have before--and that is a very encouraging thought!
I'm doing a lot of traveling this year, as some of you already know. I was in Spain in March, I'm heading to Hawaii for three weeks in May, and off to the World Cup in Germany for a week in late June. Throw in a couple of other trips, like to see my parents in Texas and her parents in Alabama, plus hopefully a weekend jaunt to Chicago in early August for Wizard World Chicago and to catch a Cubs game.
(That would be two of the three baseball holy grails, leving only Yankee Stadium on my list).
I'm also getting my foot in the comics industry a bit, which has been a lifelong, albeit juvinile, dream. I'm now the Managing Editor at Ape Entertainment, and if things go well, I'll have my first comics writing project in the pipe by then end of the year.
I also have a loving wife, friends who I'd take a bullet for, and a family who is both very close and very dear to me.
What more could a guy want?
