*Huff!* Okay, brace yourselves...
So everything seems to be falling apart around me lately.. everything I touch turns to molten gooey poo...
While at Burning Man my basement flooded- I didn't find out immediately, took a few days.... When I discovered the moisture in my basement, I also discovered my entire book collection (been working on my fantasy/sci-fi collection since the age of 12!!) was a melty-moldy pile of goo, some of the school supplies (I bought for this semester and never even got to use!) I had down there was uber gross and had to get tossed, my favorite pair of platform boots (my black ones, micro-suede I think) were covered in mold ($90 boots!! WTF!), and my favorite desk (I used it for school work, gaming, and as my media center- has been in my family for 3 generations) was rotten and moldy and wood is crumbling apart!
So I cleaned up, threw my prized possessions out, and went on with life.
The VERY NEXT DAY it rained again, and this time the items that were safe from the wet before (there were a couple of spots that stayed dry) were totally soaked and ruined too, since the other boxes full of absorbent books and shoes etc were removed, the water had a free path to everything else.
So I threw away more prized possessions, discovering a bunch of my art (priceless! irreplaceable! some of it from when I was 12!!!) was either starting to mold, covered in mold, or... just... yicky.. Even some unused canvas and brushes got tossed this go around...
What else could possibly go wrong?
I'll tell you.
So last night my friend Tanya dropped by (what a gal! Happy Birthday Tanya!! <3) and while we were pouring glasses of wine we started noticing a bunch of fruit flies... Wtf? I keep a clean house! No reason for bugs... Until I discovered the reason, I couldn't figure out what was going on. As it turns out, some of the electrical problems in my new house have NOT actually been fixed- there are two outlets in my living room supposed to work on a switch, which weren't working for whatever reason... and then I realized the front porch light stopped working as well as my internet connection (wireless modem/router wasn't getting power?), so I check the deep freeze.... Nope. Well over $200 worth of food was toasty. Of course there are flies in my house! They smell warm meat that hasn't quite rotted yet...
T_T So at this point... factoring in super expensive art supplies, well over $1000 in books (plus a few of my old textbooks that I wanted to keep- $200 and $300 each), my boots, and other various things... Somewhere around $2-$3000 gone... now throw in a whole bunch of my food, gone!
Oh, and let's not forget... out of nowhere my cv halfshaft in my car started going out too- that'll be $85 to replace (the part comes today, it'll be fixed by tomorrow morning... thank goodness for friends that like to teach me how to work on cars- first hand experience and I get to fix my car while I learn!) that at this point... woof. I can't afford anything else to go wrong, but I know it will.
Somehow I've managed to keep my head above water, to keep on going, and not freak out. One year ago, if even half of this stuff had happened to me I probably would have flipped shit and started screaming and crying and ceased to function. Today, I've been a lazy practitioner of Nichiren Buddhism since New Year's day this year, so for over 9 months, and somehow I'm finding I can summon up the strength to continue.. to keep smiling... to share the story of my life (definitely a comedic tragedy) and laugh about everything that happens.. I joke about the train wreck that is my day-to-day life, and goad people to ask me what's gone wrong that day. Apparently my life should be put in ink as a very bad comic strip or something.
I don't know how I'm going to make it through all this - I am totally out of money at this point, struggling to figure out how to keep making it to school, how to learn a new job (I'm now a part-time [in my free time, when I'm not doing school or homework] recruiter for an IT company/job placement service- but it's all based on commission), and keep smiling.
Just breathe.
*in* *out* *in* *out* Phew...
I just keep reminding myself to handle everything with poise, control, grace... Keep breathing, keep hoping for a break, and keep plugging away at school and work (I reeeeeally need to find someone a job!).

So I was told by multiple sources I needed to replace a cv halfshaft on my car... ordered the part, paid for it, went to put it on.... aaaaaaaaaaand the bearing is going out, the halfshaft is in perfect shape.
And I have every receipt I'll never ever need, but I seem to have lost the one I need in order to take this part back...
GRRR!!! >.< Really?!
Phew. Okay.
Whatevs...
Night!
