I actually forgot another thing that I do, aside from the breathing exercise the I wrote about earlier, is to dig cause a slight discomfort on yourself at the same time that the needle is being applied. The trick is to do it at a higher place then where the needle is place. I would consider taking a fingernail and pinching your upper arm. This could help to distract from the pain that you cannot control and make the subconcious focus on the pain that you can control. Given that it should be on the same neural pathway to the brain as the inflicted pain. I have tried this several times especially when getting tattooed on my leg, which seemed to be a painful spot for me. Just a nother suggestion.
