so i went to the curiosa festival on saturday.
first off, let me begin by saying randall's island is a total dump. not only does it smell like used gym sneakers stuffed with sweaty socks that have been sitting in a locker for 3 weeks, but it's also a dirty, rock covered field with the *occasional* patch of weedy grass. and not the good weed either. i've been there before when the old stadium was around and that setup was definitely better. secondly, they moved the entire schedule up by 30 minutes, causing us to miss both mogwai and auf der maur. and last but not least, the setlist by the cure was by far the weakest one of the tour.
on the bright side, what they did play sounded fantastic. Us or Them was very strong live, and Pictures of You was epic. One Hundred Years was even angrier in a live setting, and the encore consisted of a couple surprises including M, and 10:15 on a saturday night. interpol relied heavily on new material, which i was surprised about since the new album doesn't come out until september. muse was very good, but i only caught about 3 songs since we wanted to get back to the main stage to find a good spot for the cure.
Setlist: Lost, Labyrinth, Fascination Street, Before Three, High, The End Of the World, Lovesong, Inbetween Days, Just Like Heaven, Pictures Of You, Us or Them, From The Edge OF The Deep Green Sea, alt.end, One Hundred Years, The Promise
Encore 1: M, Play For Today, A Forest
Encore 2: 10:15 Saturday Night, Boys Don't Cry
