Today was our first chance to see Amsterdam in the daylight. Its beautiful, tho really grey and gloomy this morning. I love how its able to maintain its charm and uniqueness as a city when everything else seems so commercialized. It still has the feel of an old city. A really really fun old city.
The circular streets and canals kinda confused my human compass at first, but after last nights walking adventures, we were able to find our way very easily. This morning was a visit to anne franke's house and then a trip to the van gogh museum, both of which were a bit on the depressing side. Van gogh because of all his great, unappreciated work and eventual suicide, and anne franke for obvious reasons. For lunch I had chicken and mustard pancakes. We made a beeline through vondelpark and back to the hotel so I could make an appointment at a spa and lighten the mood. And no not a "spa", but a real spa, u pervs. On the way I'm gonna drop by the torture museum and the magic mushrom store.
That was the -best- 50 euros I spent all trip. Split up with rich and arrived at the spa. Was shown around and pampered. Saunas, an hour massage, and a turkish bath right next to a total hottie. It was the fastest 2 hours ever. I was so jellylike on the walk back that I almost wobbled into a canal. Also almost went back to the shroom store (which totally rules btw) and zigzagged my way over canals to the hotel because I kept changing my decision. Ended up deciding to at least hold off until tomorrow night since we have one more full day here. Meanwhile, rich is still missing after his venture back to the red light district...
Rich made it back safely and we had a dim sum dinner then went to a club called melkweg.
3:30 am and just got back from melkweg which is a club right across the street from the hotel. Music was straight up electrohouse and the place was mobbed and going nuts. Danced a lot til it got too crowded. Talked to all sorts of people (dutch, indoesian, uk) and danced/chatted with many a cute girl. Dutch girls are freakin hot. All of this after rich "left". Music was hit or miss. Some of it fantastic, some cheesy as hell. My biggest problem was there was absolutely no room to dance. Tried to wait it out but it never emptied out. So I left, thinking I would try not to get back too late and wake rich up at the hotel and he WASNT THERE. Worried for a bit, but he eventually returned from his "wandering". Ahem.
My ears are ringing.
A *very* fantastic day and night.

Only thing that sucks about Amsterdam is the food.
