Today was a slow start after last nights stoned drunken socializing. I kept having this dream that I was getting ready, but then I'd wake up still laying in bed. It was like groundhog day only with a massive hangover and not in the least bit funny.
We did manage to make it over to Musee D'Orsay by around 11 and went to a creperie behind the museum. Had a crepe with eggs and sausage, yum. I like eggs. The museum itself was gorgeous. A converted train station with enormous arched ceilings, the center area was all open space, while the sides were where the pre, post, and impressionists art work were displayed. 3.5 exhausting hours later, we took the metro to rue de hausmann where we picked up some chocolates and foie gras for gifts. Tried to go shopping in Galleries Lafayette, but it was packed with holiday shoppers. Felt kind of like a mix of herald sqaure with its department stores and union square's holiday market. Booked out of there quick and now back at the hotel to rest and watch fashion tv or curling. Off to shop more on rue de francs bourgeois then to eiffel.
Ok so shoping didn't work out. The jacket I fell in love with was 878 euros. Sorry, not that spendy right now. And by the time we made it to the rest of the shops, they were closed. So we had the best dinner yet, with foie gras appetizer, duck plate, and creme brulle, with a bottle of great red wine.
After dinner, rich left to go back to arc de triomphe while I went to go booze it up with a friend of a friend named jonathan. We met at pop in, which is essentially a hipster indie rock LES type bar a block from our hotel, but it was way crowded so after a beer we moved on to a cafe called ave maria where we drank way too much and chatted the night away with a german woman in town filming a documentary. About 8 drinks later I stumbled home to find rich back at the hotel watching fashion tv (again).
Overall a totally awesome way to end my time in paris. I needed to see some nightlife and I found it.
Very glad we decided on paris first, because I really need the relaxing time in amsterdam before heading back to new york. Next update from amsterdam! You'll forgive me if things start to become hazy from here til the end of the trip.

Jealous. As of right now you've definitely made the right choice travel-wise (I know, your breath has been bated awaiting my approval) since your posts from France (which I totally want to visit) en route to Amsterdam (which I totally want to visit) have sounded cool and so far Colorado's winter has been kinda lacking. Not that I haven't had fun on the slopes but I haven't had a day yet that I'd travel for. Unlike your visit last season which you guys lucked out and was powderriffic. Jesus, why am I awake drinking whiskey at 5am?
