This morning I woke up after 8 hours of wonderful sleep to a bright sunny day! Sleep rules.
Rich and I had oefs for breakie (he's still making me order everything for him since his bad french is even worse than my bad french). We switched to our real hotel, which is located on the border of marais and bastille. A *much* better location than last night.
After settling in we walked to the seine, travelled along the banks to notre dame. Now that is one impressive building, both inside and out. Many photos were taken and I just -had- to get my mom some religious doodads since she's a crazy catholic.
My friend Lisa then met up with us out front of notre dame and took us on a walking tour of the latin quarter, jardin luxembourg, the pantheon, st etienne du mont, and lots of cute windy cobblestone streets with cafes, markets, etc. After all that walking we sat and had some wine and caught up. Bea, I told her about the books and she was really happy to hear that.
We said our goodbyes and rich and I walked back to the hotel, past city hall and through marais. We are SO going back there for some shopping tomorrow after the picasso museum. Already have my eye on this fab grey wool jacket.
Dinner tonight was our best meal yet at L'Elcluse in Bastille a few blocks from the hotel. We had foie grais and duck with red wine. This was followed by many attempts at finding something fun and crazy to do on a sunday night in paris, but we failed there and settled on a beer at bar des ferrailleurs. Tomorrow's a big day with four major tourist spots planned so rest is for the best anyway.
We like Paris much more today.

I knew you'd love the shopping in the Marais. I think I spent about $2000 in that area. There's a really great bakery and a really cool bar (Les Etages) near the Girbaud store.
