This is terribly trite and cliched.....but.....
THE EAGLES ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL! THE EAGLES ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!
Wh00t! Wh00t!
====================
Okay, okay, okay, I've been a bad little monkey and stayed away for far too long. I'm not entirely sure why - it's not like I haven't had anything usefull to say or that I've grown tired of this community. I just haven't felt the "urge" to write, you know?
And neat things have been happening, too. Journal-worthy things. Yet I did not exactly feel the "spark" - the creative impetus to put pen-to-paper (or finger-to-keyboard, as it were) to expand upon these significant events in my life. For instance:
I had a great lunch w/ mpphoto and grimjack way back in 2004. mpphoto even showed me his studio, a compilation of his work over the years, and the "private, special room" in his studio where he offered me a "pony-lap ride".....though I'm still not exactly sure what the hell that was all about.
Later I got to spend the weekend in DC w/ my dear, close friend Joel (as seen in the pics section) and his stunningly pregnant wife. I'm old, now. It's official. Baldness is a poor indicator of these things - I went bald after Charlie Brown but before everyone else my age so I don't really give a shit about that. But my friends are going to have kids, I'm getting married this year [in the summer], soon I'll be entering the third decade of my life, and I'm not getting any thinner even though I'm cutting back on my intake of food. Clearly God is trying to tell me something.
A student asked me last week, "Mr. Lufy - what is your 'Motivation'? What exactly motivates you?" To this I responded ever-so-eloquently:
"I have no idea."
Also, another student (a REAL Emo kid if there ever was one) said to me, after a period of protracted silence, "Let's not waste our lives, okay? I can't think of anything that would suck more than looking back on my life and feel like I did nothing with it."
To this I responded ever-so-eloquently:
"Okay."
Yep...the minds of America's future are safely nestled in the squishy folds of my intellectual bosom. Footloose and fancy-free they will surely become after the year they'll spend under my careful tutilage. Clearly - I know what I am doing.
Happy 2005.

What is this "eagles" you speak of?
One of my Donovan & mom photos is being used for a national ad this week. Ca-ching!
The students you need to be most concerned about are the ones with sawed-off shotguns. They often have problems expressing themselves in traditional ways
