Here I am - rock you like a hurricane....
Three months is far too long to have gone without checking in, and I apologize. The move from Denver back to Wheeling and the subsequent start of the new school year was so traumatic for everyone in my family (myself, my wife, and my cats) that we're only now able to look at ourselves in the mirror. But we're here...and we're busier than hell. Yadda, yadda, yadda...I know, everyone's busy. But there truly have been extenuating circumstances. I'm going to write about them two journals from now. It's kinda sad - but I don't want to bring anyone down so I'll just keep it light for now. Cole Porter said, "Never begin a show on a ballad..." so there's no reason to get so serious after such a long hiatus.
Sorry if you want pics of the wedding immediately. However, I promise I'll write in my next update about the wedding. There'll be pictures galore and tales of just how fabulous it was. Needless to say, I'm one of the luckiest men alive to have found such a wonderful woman. She was so beautiful and classy that day - everything was perfect. What a blast....
And so, without further delay, everybody's favorite section of my online journal:
Favorite Student Anecdotes from the past few weeks! (what I can remember, anyway...)
=======================================
Student dialogue in class between a local kid and a Korean student:
Student #1: How would you know they act that way in Asia?
Student #2: Well...I'm Asian
Student #1: You're not Asian - you're KOREAN!
======================================
Overheard in halls:
Student #1: Have you ever considered the fact that you're a self-hating Jew?
Student #2: Don't be absurd - I love myself. It's the rest of the Jews that I hate.
======================================
In the classroom:
Me: Okay - ...so does anyone know what a "mandate" is?
Student (who is male): Yeah, it's when Rob and I go out for dinner and a movie, then go home and snuggle on the couch.
======================================
Waka waka! See you in a few days with some wedding pics. And thanks for not dropping me from your friends list!

Those are great stories. Especially the "mandate" one.
I can't wait until I one day work in a high school.
