I am soooooooooooooo tired. I needed this lazy day. I worked the last 9 days straight at both jobs, sometimes at both jobs on the same day. Sleeping in and reading for most of the day is joyous! I finished The Photographer, a graphic novel about a photog attached with a MSF group in Afghanistan, and today I am halfway through A Cruel Paradise: Journals of an International Relief Worker. Yes, I am thinking about saving the world after school. Idealist, yes. Realist, a bit.
Tomorrow morning, I head off to St Lawrence College for Orientation Day. I haven't attended school in five or six years and this excites and unnerves me. I deserve this and a chance to do good in the world with a new career in Health Care. I am in PreHealth for this year and applying to Medical Laboratory Science afterwards. I plan on rocking the lab coat.
I spent the last seven years training or working the in aviation industry as an aircraft mechanic. My body and mind went through so much abuse. After three years of serious health problems and losing work because of said illness, I left the industry for good. I was one of the lucky ones, many of my peers never made it as a mechanic or managed to find any work in the industry. I left them wanting more of me. My experiences and work ethic will serve me well in the future but only for those who deserve it.
My future begins tomorrow.
