Hey.
Long time, no post. On the other hand, reading through my previous post it's perhaps as well. I was certainly premature in my assertion that Angel would recover from his operation. Sadly Angel the rottweiler had to be put down 4 days after that post was written, and after the vet informed us that he had blood poisoning and was not responding to treatment. We've had our grieving time though, my fiancee was the most upset (he was her dog after all), and I suspect my dad was much less so given that he no longer fears for his manhood whenever he walks within 10 feet of our house.
On to less depressing and, hopefully, more interseting matters. We've had quite the month of surprises. My 22nd was surprisingly enjoyable, Hulk was surpisingly good and D&D 4th Edition is surprisingly tempting.
Birthdays are things I don't make much of a fuss over. Under normal circumstances I am the same person the day before and the day after my Birthday and I'm perpetually grateful for my life and the people in it, so I don't see the need for a day that puts me in the spotlight. On the other hand, it was an opportunity this year to have my Mother and Father in the same room as her new husband (the first time this has happened since she married) and it was nice to see that not only were they getting on, but there was not a hint of falsehood or accomodation, they genuinely enjoyed each other's company. Also, my new camera (miniature by comparison to the old one, but more useful) is cute and handy. Expect evidence of this after the... frivolities, next week.
Yeah, Hulk. Makes you want to forgive the last one. 'nuff said.
And D&D... Dungeons and Dragons (in fact, role play in general) is something I have never been remotely intrigued by. On the other hand, I have read articles about the 4th and latest edition of the game and find myself inexorably drawn in. For those of you who are aware of, that is to say Cognisant of the superb web-comic Penny Arcade or indeed its contemporary PvP, there is an excellent download of a D&D session featuring the three creators of those on the D&D website: Here. When I find a someone who operates the game in my area, I will definitely be there.
So I hope the pleasant surprises keep coming (a Million falling from the sky would be good), but I'll let you know after Geoff's BBQ next week.. hehehehe
