Christmas silence.
Against my books and softened
by the warm dust of this little room
my messenger bag, like a poacher's purse
tugs at its leather straps and tautens them.

The memories trapped inside
were hot and heavy once,
running a summer day up on Greenwich hill.
Dried out now, they seem to be
two tickets for the water bus, nestling
in the bag's dark...

I had some interesting backgrounds that I shot in a disused water pumping station last year, then the chance came along to do a post-apocalyptic-style shoot and they were ideal for what I wanted when it came to the editing stage.

I fell flat on my back in green slime and oil when I did that pumping station image, so I feel that eventually some...

I've just walked back from town through another fall of snow. This time it's soft and slushy and is melting as soon as it hits the ground.

Sheffield grips itself tight when it's winter. The buildings hunch over the roads and people cram into their cars and the buses until the traffic is a long, jammed, metallic string of colours and lights winding out of...

Be careful what you wish for. Especially if it involves snow.

I have only just got back to normal after digging out the house and the car. A chunk of my guttering was ripped off by ice and the temperature is still arctic.

The cats have got cabin fever.

All right, where is the snow?

We were promised snow. Lots of snow. Snow like the snow that makes us all think Greenland has collided with Yorkshire and tipped its contents into our roads and cities. We are supposed to be facing up to an epic asault by the frost giants and we were told that icicles would be forming on our eyelids the second...

Some weeks seem to take you, twist you and wring you like a cloth, squeeze the energy out of you and then throw you into a corner from which you eventually crawl, groping for a coffee and a bar of chocolate - anything to recharge the batteries, even if you are alergic to caffine and drinking it is like licking your fingers and sticking them...

Thinking about anime now and how to create the best effects from my shoot tomorrow. Should be interesting - sounds like I am going to have someone to help me with the lighting too, which is a first; normally I have to move them about myself. One less thing to worry about, but I want it to be right, so I'll be writing some notes...

Hamilton drops to second on the Grid... it is gearing up for a hell of a race. Dream result: Button clips the grumpy Alonso who spends so much time on his radio complaining and asking Ferrari International Assistance for a ruling that he fails to make up enough places and Hamilton breezes over the line to take the title. Not that I'm biased.

In the...

Hamilton is fastest in practice smile

Really looking forward to the qualifiers today and the race tomorrow. I don't particularly mind who gets the championship, and I would even grudgingly congratulate Alonso (has he shaved the middle out of his monobrow for aerodynamic purposes?), but deep down inside it would be good to see Lewis or Mark Webber take the title.
