had my first thesis prep review today. you know, i'm getting pretty tired of following the rules. it's frustrating when you are told to do something, and then get chewed out for doing it. what's more, my advisor didn't back me up at all. turns out when they said they wanted three case studies at the review, they didn't want me to actually STUDY the cases. i was just supposed to look them over and make some conclusions. at least, that's what was implied.
now, call me crazy, but when i'm supposed to study something, i study it, THEN draw conclusions. i was actually told today that "thesis is not a personal search, it's an assigment."
oh, so THAT'S what i'm getting a master's degree for? an assignment? i don't buy it. if thesis is the culmination of 3 1/2 years of work, of all the study and sweat i've put in, then it is anything but. personal search, actually, is a very good term for it.
so thanks, reviewers, at least i now know what my thesis is...and what it is not.
