Man, that was a fun night.

Okay, so I actually read some of my book today. (I'm re-reading Martin's Song of Fire and Ice books, and they're better the second time. Craziness.) I read my book and had a bath and hung-out and relaxed and preened and was generally content.

Then Su came over and we hung out for awhile and looked at some pictures in a photo-album that she brought over. Newfoundland is a neat-looking place. I'd like to go there some day. ANNNNNNYway, Leningrad calls me up to tell me what's going on with him tonight, and he tells me that the show that he was originally going to go to but thought would be over by the time he got there was still going on and "Billy and the Lost Boys just finished."

Me: What?
Him: Billy played.
Me: What the fuck?! SHE DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL ME?!?!

Aside: Billy and the Lost Boys are my favourite Vancouver band. I go to see them pretty much every chance I can. They played my birthday party last year. I consider Billy to be a friend of mine... y'know, the kind of friend you hope would call if they were passing through town! ,P

Anyway, this gets me motivated (well, the thought of me going down to the show and waggling my finger at Billy for this horrible affront gets me motivated, anyway), and Su and I head over there. I weasel my way in for free (as Billy's Vancouver friend) and then I find her, scold her briefly and then it is all good. She is coming back next month so the Mighty Hand of Vengeance (hahaha... right) was stayed. Also, her promise to FRIGGIN' EMAIL ME if she's coming to town was given. ,)

The show itself was so funny. I have never in my life seen such a big collection of black t-shirts. Literally 80-90% black t-shirts. And black-mesh tops. And 13 year-olds wearing Nirvana shirts. I tell you, nothing makes you feel quite as old as spotting that and thinking, "Hey, you weren't even alive when Nevermind was released. I was in high school. Daaaaamn."

But I just don't get hardcore pits anymore. Some HC band was playing when I got there and I said, "Okay, I haven't been in a pit for awhile. I could stand a bit of testosterone-fuelled moshing." But, no. I got 15-seconds of circle-skanking and then it lapsed into this weird "stand-in-place-and-twist-your-torso-back-and-forth-and-punch-vigorously-in-the-air" thing. It was very odd. No moshing. No skanking. No foot motion. Just this weird obstacle course of HC dudes. Hardcore is the new Tai Bo, I swear.

Leningrad, Malloreigh, and Stipud were all at the show, but I ended up leaving early because while I kind of liked the music for Thorazine, their lead singer kept making all of these noises that I found vaguely ludicrous.

My imagining of how he came up with his voice/sounds:
Friend: Hey, check this out! I've got this CB radio and it makes these awesome noises when I press the squelch button a lot when people are talking!
Him: I could make those noises.
Friend: You could?
Him: Sure.
Friend: Do it!
Him: *gurgles*
Friend: We should start a band!
Him: We totally should.

Anyway, Su and I couldn't find anyone to say goodbye to, so we just had to leave. But we visited my (sane) roommate at his work, then got Slurpees and went back to my place where we drank Slurpees and eventually cuddled and talked and just chilled listening to music.

Now I am high on caffeine and not tired, but it doesn't matter, because I am high on life (and cliches!). WOOT!

P.S. The dumb roommate does not move out 'til Sunday. Looks like I am taking that day off after all. Oh well.

Forth Eorlingas has to be the first single. It'll be about ... riding into battle. Which, I'm thinking, most of our songs will be about.
