We're looking for Sunset or Richmond district housing, since one of the people I'm moving with is transferring to SF State. Even if it's foggy all day every day all year, I like the idea of cheap rent, ample parking, and a relatively safe neighborhood.

i think the light poles i am most familiar with require the odd, spiked shoes to really climb up and over. however, how does one get up the metel light poles (without the use of a truck or cherry-picker??) you got me. i think it may be the $60,000 question.

So I ordered this book over a week ago that I need to read by next week, right. Well it still has not arrived yet and everyday it is not here means one day less for me to read it. I got big things to do on Thursday and Friday and really want to do something with my weekend as well. Things are not looking very good in the reading department. Damn you Amazon.com used book section...damn you to hell

Guess what! I already new what the past three dictionary.com words of the day were before I even read there definitions...I'm feeling very learnded and quite scrumtralecent of myself for that.

So yeah.

I know exactly what you're going through. For the first two years of living here in Chico I went through much the same. I tended to narrow everyone down to stereotypes; everyone was a bro, frat boy, sorority girl, or generic business major. I felt like there was no way in which I could connect with fellow students. My first semester here, I was almost a total recluse, keeping to myself and reading and drawing/painting most of the time. On the rare occasions taht I did go out, I would tell myself that alcohol would make me more sociable. It did, but I soon realized I was a drunken idiot socializing with other drunken idiots, and I was using alcohol not just to be social but also to make other people interesting. So unless I wanted to be drunk all the time, most of the drinking buddies I had would be one-dimenional carbon copies of every other inhabitant of this place.
In fact, it wasn't until this past summer that I met some people who I could actually relate to and enjoy (who I preferred being sober around, and now for the first time I actually can call some people here true "friends"). As a result life here has become much more bearable. All I can say is that either every town, no matter how dreadful-seeming, has its share of like-minded people, or perhaps normally shy (and sober) people can only make good friends with a small number of others around whom they feel comfortable and less vulnerable.
I, too, plan on moving to SF (with one of the best friends I have made in Chico), and I tell myself the same thing you said. But then, I remember telling myself that three years ago when I moved to Chico, so I'm only cautiously optimistic.

Well, at least in my tired state, I think some of that is what you may be going through...

Oh yeah, if you're doing your community service bullshit again and want good vegan food in Chico, I recommend the Peeking Chinese restaurant on 2nd St, next to the Black Crow (adjacent to The Bear). You can substitute wheat meat in many of their dinners. I've tried it and dig it, and my vegan friends really love it!

The synthpop song was by the band Soviet; their cd (released a few years ago, but already put of print...) is called We Are Eyes, We Are Builders - definitely a great cd if you can find it.

I was thinking of going to see it until I realized that I had forsaken all school-related projects last weekend and if I didn't paint or draw or complete one of my art projects tonight I'd be pretty screwed. Plus, I own it and have seen it a dozen times or so because every time I get a friend to borrow it I end up watching it with them...

Ahh, the trick to getting out of Coachella was to NOT park in the designated lots. We parked a mile away, on a side street. It was a bit of a walk, but we made it back to Palm Springs about 45 minutes after we left the show both days!
I love the way you stuck it to Coachella. I tried to argue that I should be able to take in empty bottles of water that I had purchased the previous day, but they weren't having it. And the tip jars were ridiculous, although it's not really the vendors' fault for the prices. And $5.00 spinach? What the fuck? That damn well better have been the best spinach ever!

haha, good pint about the drink thing, didn't really think about it b4. you should just get someone's name tatood on you...ok not really, unless of course it is a family meber who has died or something.
