Today is H--'s birthday. I was glad I was on Skype with him when it hit midnight in Japan so that I could be the first to wish him a happy birthday. He said he was glad too, and he had all his early birthday presents that I sent him by his side.
It's also Japan Day. So we had a lot of memories today. He said he remembered celebrating Japan Day and his birthday with me when he was in New York. He remembered that I cooked for him on his birthday. I told him I would cook for him again.
He said the past two years of his life, between leaving New York and speaking to me again, were a blank space in which there was nothing. He said that I changed him and I changed his life.
I told him I want to touch him and that it would be so comforting to me. And I told him that, when I see him again, I want to spend a few days not leaving the house. That I really want to touch him again.
I now want to go to Japan sooner rather than later, but I'm going to need to do the approximately 6 months of post-surgery rehab here in the States.
