I told my mom about my decision to move to Japan. I waited till my dad wasn't home. She was supportive! I know how difficult it will be to win over my dad, though, and I'm not ready to try that yet.
I started by asking her what she thought about me working abroad in Japan, and one of the first things she asked was, "Don't you have a boyfriend or someone you would miss here?" I'm terrible at holding things back, so I said, "No, but I have someone I miss who's there." And then I told her everything.
She seems happy I found someone. I'm very surprised.
Is this all really happening?

Maybe she can be your ally when you approach your dad. Having the approval of loved ones is important, but ultimately, you have to live your own life and do what's best for you.
Happiness can be illusive, so if you find it, you need to grab it and hold on. I wish you all the happiness in the world.
