Tell people that ninjas attacked you with pillows while you were on the golf course

The proper answer is that you asked someone in a leg brace "What happened to your leg?" That will stop them from speculating outloud.

Today I asked my mom's advice on how to tell my dad I'm moving to Japan. I was expecting what she said, but I didn't like it. Basically, she thinks I should frame the situation as me doing this for a man. Even though H-- is part of the reason I'm going, and even though I love him and would be very happy if our...

I totally understand why you're not pleased with your mom's response. There's much more to you than having a man in your life.

I'm thinking that her attitude wasn't all that much of a surprise to you. Just nod at her while knowing at the same time that you're an intelligent, and vibrant woman who is a beautiful and fulfilled person with or without a man in your life.
wsoxfan:
While it's true that there are some good things happening in my life, I tend to think too much about the negative stuff. I think I should teke more of the advice I've been giving you. I'm sure I'd be better off if I did that.

It took a while, but it has finally been established that it is not OK for me to be sexin' other people. I haven't been, but it's good to be clear. And I don't want him sexin' other people, either.

This means I'm not having sex till November. Then for about a one week span. Then not again till February or March, depending on when...

I think you can do it. If it's what you really want, it will happen.

Yesterday I saw this person and thought, "Who's the cute lesbian?" Was totally a guy. Hot.

Today was my first physical therapy session, although I've had physical therapy exercises to do since the day after the surgery. I think it went well. The physical therapist was impressed. But I'm not going to be off crutches this week.

I also had my first acupuncture session today. I think it helped significantly. I think it helped even more than the physical therapy. My...

I love hearing this. Your attitude and focus are so important for a speedy and full recovery.

Have I told you lately how proud I am of you?
creamcuffs:
This is very good news. Pain reduced by half is wonderful news, and it means you are even closer to a full recovery. It looks like you're in good hands with your doctors and physical therapists.

Tomorrow I go back to NYC around 1 PM. I'll see how it is to be on my own with my leg like this. I'll be fine in my apartment, but getting to work and getting around the city will be difficult.

I spoke to H-- today, and my plan is to go to Japan in November. He hopes he'll be able to take a...

I hope this is allergies, because I don't want to be coming down with a cold two days before my ACL reconstruction surgery.

Two more days...

You're gonna be fine...

wsoxfan:
I woke up with a horrible fit of sneezing, sinus pain and stuffy head a week ago last Thursday. I was almost positive it was allergies and I was right. It cleared up in a day or two.

I hope it's the same with you.

I wrote an email to a former professor of mine, now a friend, to let him know what I've been up to lately. I realized I have had and will have a rather adventurous, interesting life. One day I may have kids and grandkids who will have good stories about me. This makes me happy.
wsoxfan:
The thought of what you're saying makes me so happy. I can tell you from personal experience, nothing beats a loving partner along with having kids and grandkids.

I wish all of that for you, as you deserve all the happiness you can get.

I will travel to see my boyfriend in October or November, then in February or March I'll move to Japan, where he is. It all seems much too far away.

I actually understand what you're saying about the your recovery from surgery being a somewhat "welcome" distraction.

This is one of the things I find remarkable about you and shows how much you've grown since I first became friends with you. You're able to see something positive about a seemingly negative situation. You're the kind of person I'm proud to know and consider a friend.
wsoxfan:
She's been protective of me when it comes to my relationships with women ever since Annette passed away.

We talked it out yesterday and things are okay between us.

My appointment with the new doctor was good. My ACL reconstruction will happen in about a week and a half, and with this doctor's techniques and aggressive physical therapy, he says I can be back to pre-injury condition in 3 months. Much, much faster than the 6 months I was expecting, so I'm happy.
ferretbite:
Just make sure you don't become overconfident if you start to notice improvement and you will be fine.
wsoxfan:
Great news. Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
