Do you ever find that, every time you meet someone with a particular name, you like that person? I always like women named Keiko and men named Mike.

Your friends look awesome. I particulary like the cute one on the right. If she is on this site as a member, I want to be her friend.

wink
wsoxfan:
They don't look so scary. Bring them on, lol.

Seriously, having friends you can count on means everything.

One of my students with whom I'm pretty friendly had a good suggestion about trying to make my dad feel better about my move to Kyoto. She said I should show him a tour book with lots of pretty pictures so he can see it's a nice place. I'll try.

Then H-- had the even better idea of taking some pictures of his apartment and...

Tell me something you love about your job!

I love when a student's English gets to the point where you can share funny stories.

If you don't love your current job, what job do you think you would love?

I'm a gardener. I love the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day, when property looks beautiful, and I'm all sweaty and covered in dirt.
wsoxfan:
Wow! You're the second person on myfriends list to ask that question. I'd love to be the manager of the Chicago White Sox. I know I'd do a great job too.

What have you done to change your life for the better?

A friend of mine asked this on her Facebook status, and I'm interested in all your answers!

The first thing that came to my mind was "I left my Ph.D. program."
deceptiviewfilm:
nthing yet...but the accident woke me up to alot of things i was doing and i've been slowly changing things(writing etc) to make the changes more permanent.
wsoxfan:
I stopped feeling sorry for myself and started to take responsibility for my happiness.

It starts.
wsoxfan:
That's awesome. Best of luck with that.

As soon as I pass by a convenient, stair-free place to buy a MetroCard, I will be graduating to taking the bus. I have been taking cabs everywhere. Almost $300 a week. On a temp's wages.

I understand. Buses are okay and you'll probably always get a seat if you're wearing a cast.
psycho_magnet:
Thanks. Yeah I haven't had one coworker tryst end good yet.

don't forget the drunk kareoke.
wsoxfan:
I didn't know that. Thanks for educating me on travel etiquette.

This is what I get for booking reasonably in advance: my flight back from Osaka has been canceled. I'm sure it'll get fixed well before the flight date in November... but maybe I just won't come back.
galaxy42:
Why was it canceled...?

You have so much to look forward to. I'm glad I've been able to follow your journey. You've come a long way as a person. I love that you've taken control of your life and are living it to the fullest.

Hmm... no direct flights, so:

New York to Osaka, one stop, total 20 hour trip for $1100.

Or New York to Osaka, one stop, total 16 hour trip for $1300.

Time or money?

depends, are you first class or coach?
wsoxfan:
If you can afford it, I'd pay a little more and get there sooner.

I'm going to see a psychic tomorrow. I got a recommendation from someone I trust, so I know the woman isn't going to try to rip me off. I've never done this before, but I figure that, with so many changes going on in my life, why not? It may help me think through some things.

galaxy42:
How'd that go?

ferretbite:
Guess whut. I'm alive!

On topic... I went to a psychic once. I put as much faith in her words as I do in runes or literal interpretation of religious texts, but it was fun. I think I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't spent the whole time reading her.
