Well, had a little excitement last night. The tech recorded my neighbors temp on my chart and stirred up a bees nest. I had people flying about my room, drawing blood for cultures, scheduling cat scans, changing my status back to no food/water, etc etc etc. I was like, WTF!! Then they told me I spiked a fever and they were doing all this stuff to make sure there isnt anything going south. I said, excuse me, but I've been following along with my trusty bedside thermometer and the the highest my temperature has been is 98.5. Everyone stopped and looked at each other and picked up whatever they were doing. I refused to go for the cat scan until I talked to the doctor. Finally got they to LISTEN, they took my temperature again, and said, hey, he isn't running a fever. Duh. So they changed from a cat scan to a regular chest x-ray, because I'd want one anyway and they wanted to make sure pneumonia wasn't setting in. right. so I get back from radiology and found out they had stopped my water pill two days prior. No wonder my output was down. My body acts as a sponge if I dont use my water pill. I felt all bloated in my abdomen and told them I wanted to be put back on my water pill (something I have been on for over 8 months straight now). They paged the doctor and waited for him to consider. He got back to them and said they would evaluate at rounds, 8 hours later. WTF?!?! So I said I didnt want to wait and I'd like to talk to "him". strangely, I waited and waited and waited, finally was woken at 5am still in the position I was in waiting for them to finish changing my dressing they started 5 hours earlier. Their first words were "I see you spiked a fever last night". YIKES. I was informed that they were gonna start the IV water pill agian. Brilliant maneuver batman.
So, I get the water pill, and as they are leaving I hear them say they are going to remove the catheter too. Oooookay. So the pill goes in, after 4 hours I have peed SIX litres out, and the nurse comes frolicking in to remove my pee-tube. Um, NO. You want to take out the tube collecting my pee that is coming out like a stream? I don't think so. So they went away and came back after talking to his highness, and said they were going to wait a few hours to take out the tube at noon.
Quarter till noon, they come in and inform me the physical therapists would like to bring me down to the gym for further torture, and lets take out that pesky tube before you go. Now, the last time I had a tube removed was by one of the tech who used to work in urology. This one did not used to work in urology. I guess she thought the penis came with a twist off top. But after the initial shock, the remainder came out without incident. Therapy went fine, I'm quite tender in the wound area, but I had not used the pain medicine very much that morning. Got back to the room and "rested" most of the afternoon.
I still have a ways to go, they added fruit to my diet, yipee! I am going back to straight ice water, juices are just too sweet.
Thanks for the dedication SP, that was cool.
And VP, sadly, no, I will not be bed ridden any time soon, I dont have that special someone in my life these days , but they are taking all the IV stuff out of my hands

The medical field seems to be full or grade A morons. I am glad you have your wits to keep them on their toes. Get well soon!

I so adore your use of similes when referring to pee
