Hold on folks....this is gonna be lengthy.
I hope that everyone had a very happy Memorial Day weekend! Although, I'm sure it didn't rock as hard as mine. HAHAHA! (more on that in second)
I'm going to start out by saying that *bass player* and I are done! I'm torn about it. Part of me is really sad and hurt, because I did like him a lot. However, I have a feeling that he and I will probably stay good friends.
I still plan on catching his show in Kansas City, MO and probably the one in Athens, GA too.
Okay...the weekend......
Friday night - Made it a mellow evening. Picked up some beers that I had never tried before and headed to a friend's house. We had a beer tasting, watched a Fraiser marathon, pulled out sofa-bed and put on Texas Chainsaw Massacre (which I had never seen before). Didn't finish the movie, fell asleep. Very fun, very mellow night.
Saturday - Drove my new car up to Knoxville to catch The Dexateens show at Barley's. They played with Those Darlins and The Features. The plan was to drive up, catch the show and drive back to Tuscaloosa that night. As I started talking to some of the guys in the band, I was informed that they were playing in Nashville the next night and it was the last show on the tour. I mentioned that it would probably be a fun show to see. Next thing you know they told me that they club hooked 'em up with 3 hotel suites and I should stay the night and drive to Nashville the next day and hang out and see the show. Well.....it wasn't like I had to work on Monday or anything.....AWESOME for the rest of the evening. I didn't really know any of the guys in the band that well. I'd met the bass player once or twice and I kind of know the drummer, but not very well. We stayed up laughing and smoking and taking photos and watching silly YouTube videos.
Sunday - Nashville! I love Nashville so much. The band had some promo stuff to do and meet up with their lawyers so we split for a while and I had fun shopping and driving around Nashville.
I was hanging out at the bar where they were playing and this guy walks up with this little redhead woman. I recognized him immed. because he's one of those cats that just looks - well it's his own look-
I'm outside the bar chatting with friends and chainsmoking and I keep noticing that this guy keeps checking me out. I never went over and talked to him (which I don't ever have a problem with - if someone is looking at me and I think they are cute - I'm on it in a heartbeat) because he was with some bros and that redhead. - Oh, I guess I could mention that the guy I'm talking about is "Little" Jack Lawrence who plays in The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. - Kind of flattering, kind of creepy, kind of an ego boost. I guess he must have a thing for redheads
The show was AMAZING! Might have been the best Dexateens show that I have ever seen. Loud, Wild, Pure Rock N Roll! I danced, I sang, I broke beer glasses! I have a HUGE crush on The Dexateens now!
Drove Back that night. I got home around 5am.
Monday- Slept, Slept, Slept. Bar, Bar, Slept. Had another mellow evening with Friday night's friend. More sofa-bed and TV. *As much as I love going out and living like a rockstar, I think I might be able to get used to this mellow stuff - I like TV, I like sofa-beds, and I think I'm starting to like the company*
Playlist:
Dow Low - The Dexateens
*My bar, my second home makes a cameo in this video*
