Ten years ago today, was the first time I went out with LoveBug. We were working together at the Census Bureau. I didn't really know her at the time - apart from how beautiful she was. That day, I discovered her sitting in a corner, crying. We talked a little, and after work, I took her to the sea shore. By the time we got back, we had fallen in love.

I've seen this day play out in my mind for a very long time now. Sadly, we never made it to our tenth anniversary. She's stopped talking to me. I haven't heard from her since February 10th.

My 42nd birthday was a couple of months back. The day before, I bought LoveBug a $500k life insurance policy. I had planned to re-initiate contact with her one last time today, but the life insurance companies I bought from (I bought Bears $500k too) have taken a lot longer than I anticipated to underwrite the policies. I know the Mutual of Omaha policy has been approved (though I still don't have it yet), but I haven't heard from Pacific Life.

I guess how long it takes doesn't really matter any more now. Even if one of them had come in last week, it still would have been too late. By law, I had to name Bears as my 100% beneficiary on both policies when I bought them, so even once I get them, I will still have to file a change of beneficiary to LoveBug, which I imagine will take another couple of weeks.
