Sometimes an event happens, that seems small, but it shapes your future.
Super Video of Cherry Hill is closing in two weeks.
Super video has been the center for my group of friends for a long time. We all meet there every weekend, during the summer we met there every day.
One day dave and I came out of wawa and I saw a hiring sign on the door of the video store. Dave had been looking for a job so I suggested he go over and apply. I stayed by the car and he went in. James, one of my now good friends, quizzed Dave on movies and Dave got the job. This started it all.
I have met some amazing people through this store. Kris, Neko, Becky, James, Brian, Kelly, Ian... and not to forget the lovable owner Ken. Some of these people are my best friends, and without super video i would have never met them.
So many shenannagans happened in that store.
Days of rooting through the lottery trash to find tickets that silly customers discarded without scrtaching, running into the porn room to embarrass male customers, spending all of my school money on lottery, renting unrentable movies, chasing ted around the store with rolled posters, Buying old candy, even though you knew it would taste bad, and being surprized that Jeff Goldbloom was indeed watching you poo.
We celebrated valentines day and even thanksgiving in that store. We listened to customers share their woes, or even hassle us. We watched the no good punk kids outside cause havoc.
Yesterday I found out that this store, loved by so many of us, will be closing in a few short weeks. I went into the store to find that all the employese were there, and movies were already being sold off. I wanted to cry. Where was the super video I had remembered? The center of so much attention... Daves daily hideout...
The store has been a center of my life for 3 years now. Nearly as much time as I have been spending my life with dave.
Ken I want you to kno wthat you wont be forgotten by any of us. Your store gave us purpose for a long while and brought us together. I wish you good luck with Super Video Pennsauken. Dont forget us, and the customers. Even though I never worked there, I still feel like a memeber of the Super Video family.
So as you can see, a video store closing can be something to rightly get upset about. Dave doesnt have a job anymore, and our memories will soon lie in an empty store with blue carpeting and shelved walls. I really think life is going to change in a big way.
