So I turn 32 here in a few days. It feels like just one more birthday. Nothing all that special about it. I miss looking forward to birthdays. Remember when you turned thirteen and you were so excited to no longer be a kid anymore because you were now a teenager? You turned 16 and you could legally drive and at 18 you could legally go buy a pack of smokes without worrying about getting carded. LOL! It just seems like the only birthdays that seem to mean anything at this point are when you hit 30 then 40 ect. It's kind of lame getting older. I don't really have much planned for my birthday this year. I'll most likely go out to dinner with my family and a few close friends and keep it simple.
The Street Dogs show I went to a few weeks ago was excellent. The opening bands were quite good as well. Anymore opening bands are a crap shoot if they'll be any good. But I got to meet the bands after the show and they were all very cool and took some time to briefly talk with those of us who wanted to talk to them. I bought a shit ton of merch like I always end up doing. LOL! I got a few hoodies and both bands new albums. It's bugging me I can't remember the opening bands name. I'll have to look it up later.
So I think they are testing the water with me at work about possibly be promoted to a "lead operator" position. They are putting us on rotation that will in theory give different groups of us every other weekend off of work. So far we haven't been real busy so it's working. But they've put me in charge of one of these shifts which pissed off somebody who's been there longer (about 3 year) but hasn't worked in printing as long as me (12 years this April). I understood her frustration but she's also isn't 100% reliable since she's a single mom and they need someone who is. So our normal lead operator was on vacation for part of this week and they put me in charge of our shift while he was gone as well. I think things went fairly well even though we weren't busy. I may have a different tune when we are. I don't like everybody calling me boss even though I do it myself to anybody higher up in the company than me. We'll see how this goes for me over the next couple of months.
I'm going to Planet Comicon next weekend in Kansas City. Mainly going to get some sketches from artists. The two I'm hoping for are Tony Harris who is best known for his work on James Robinsons Starman. The other two I'm really hoping to get are Tony Moore and Scottie Young. There are a few writers I'm hoping to get their signatures from as well.
I wish I could go adopt this adorable puppy named Butter. I don't think they could of came up with a better name for her. I am such a sucker for dogs lately. It may have to do with never having my own dog growing up. My grams had her dog I'd play with when I was over at her place but it certainly wasn't mine. I think every boy needs to have a dog growing up. You've see those people who's dogs are their best friends and go everywhere with them? That bond that they have? I see that and I want that with a dog. I want that friendship. I guess I just have to wait till I get my own house.
I've kind of fallen of my exercise kick. Not really sure what caused it me kind of give up on it for the moment. I do plan on starting back up again most likely after the month is over. It doesn't help that I don't have a gym partner to help me stay focused.
Here's some music for you guys.
