Sometimes, no matter how many watches you're wearing, time slows down like molasses, whisky + beer are soothing parts of your body you never knew existed like a Zen alcoholic version of Sir Francis Drake.
One by one your perceptions are stripped away, and all you become aware of is the hotbox of heat in the red ballroom and your body and mind humming one tone like a well-struck tuning fork.
And through the thick fog of booze and the talk, of the sweat and the heat, comes a voice, a light sweet voice loaded with all the tears you've ever cried, all the emotions you've ever felt. You're stunned with a knockout punch and for an hour, which feels like the space of seven breaths everything falls away and you live forever.
On Sunday I saw Antony & the Johnsons.

Prequel:
I hung out with Posh and d20 and learned the joys of World of Warcraft. I'm incredibly tempted to get an account, but I fear it would steal me away from other activities that I'd rather be accomplishing right now. But.. so tempted.
Punkjr arrived on a vege-bacon run, and we savored some, well, quite tasty fake bacon. But I'm still glad I can eat the real thing.
After a trip to the comic shop, an Eggs Benedict at a downtown diner, we returned to their apartment (with hethal) as well to get down to a game of Illuminati for some world domination action. I was the Bavarian Illuminati, Posh the Discordian Society (I was jealous!), d20 the Bermuda Triangle, and hethal the The Servants of Cthulhu. We didn't have time for a full game, but Posh and I managed to stave off d20's attempt at dominance by controlling every form of alignment. I was 1 power away from winning on my last turn.. it was an interesting game. Glad I know how to play now. Have to set up a Victoria SG game soon perhaps.

Sequel :
I know Victoria's bad.. last time I was downtown for an hour I ran into (literally) 12 people I knew. It even happened in Vancouver, saw someone I knew downtown and ran into several people I knew at the show. We went drinking at this secret afterhours place, myself, the show promoter, and some other lapsed Victoria. The place is dynamite.. they have really tasty popcorn, sandwiches, a nice waitress, and good (reasonably priced) booze. That place is like solid gold.
After the afterhours place ran out, we went for some dodgy hotdogs (well, I didn't) at 7-11.. I had to put my pink sunglasses on the lights were so bright in there at 3:00 am. Got a ride to the bus depot where I was going to wait out for the early bus, but it's close from 1:00 am to 5:00 am so I got a ride back to downtown, used the bathroom at the Hotel Vancouver and holed up in one of the (VERY FEW) 24 hour downtown coffee shops. Had a mediocre mocha, helped catch some shoplifters, and ventured into a weird haze of demi-sleep, reading my new book Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience
by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and listening to music.
Stumbled to the bus stop at 5:00 in a full haze and might either an a) extremely fucked over British traveller or b) a really amazing grifter. Since I had to get to the bus depot in haste I wasn't afforded the opportunity to find out. Slept my way to Victoria and hit work.
That's about it.
OH. I'm on MSN MESSENGER now so if you're on it add me (lemonkid@gmail.com) and drop me your screen name in my journal or by e-mail if you'd like to keep it private.
ps. another squash game cancellation this morning.. I'm going to have starting to kick some ass.
