Because I'm a swell fellah I bought Pygmy a bubble gun, which she loves.
Unfortunately she's now taken to making surprise guerrilla raids on me while I'm on the toilet and showering me with bubbles.
For those who've been asking we had a really lovely trip to Hangzhou, I'm currently editing my photos (more nice ones taken than any China trip so far), but when I'm finished I'll be posting either 1 giant, or several smaller entries about it. Cool sights and food porn will await you.
I had a 14 course Chinese Christmas dinner in a private pavilion in the middle of a Chinese garden amidst the Longjing (Dragon Well) tea fields of Hangzhou. It's a place called the Longjing Manor. We were VIPs and it was quite an experience, one of the best restaurant experiences of my life actually. Our own private bathroom and personal waitress.
The restaurant is kind of like a Chinese Chez Panisse (for rubygardenia, datsun, unravled, and all my fellow foodies) - they have 3000 (no typo) different suppliers and everything they source is fresh and organic. They deal directly with the farmers, and even have a photo book you can look at to sea where everything in your meal was born, raised, & grown. If you're interested there's an excellent article on it in an old edition of the New Yorker here.
We also went to a tucked away sushi place called Hatsune, and had some of the best sushi of my life outside of Japan. Second only to Vancouver's sublime Tojo's Restaurant, which if you're in the city or the area is unmissable.

how funny. I lunched at CP the other day & thought of you. I think you really need to visit SF so you & the lady can come dine and taste wine with me. Napa Valley and Alice Waters are calling!
