Notes on Adding to the Cultural Lexicon:
I was in the metro striking up a conversation with co-workers, like you do, and my co-worker told a story about a neighbourhood bar involved a false wall.
This prompted me to tell my own story involving a false wall.
The poor 3rd co-worker unfortunately had no false wall story.
On thinking of this I noted how it's impossible to tell a story involving a false wall that was a bad story. This one unique attribute made the rest of the banal details irrelevant. It was a good story by necessity.
His the new term "a false wall story" def. a story which has a certain unique detail, which irrespective of how interesting the story is on a whole, makes it a good story.
Ex:
I was walking down the street to buy some tomatoes from the supermarket.
I saw a dwarf breathing fire.
I picked up the tomatoes and made some soup.
That's a good story, that would be otherwise banal without the inclusion of a "false wall" type factor.
However a false wall story can also be a great story (it is likely a great story will include not one but several "false wall" factors.. but not necessarily)
Ex:
I was walking down the street to buy some tomatoes from the supermarket. I ran into Lux Interior from the Cramps who recognized my leopard print jacket from the concert I was playing the previous night. Their guitarist had quit and he invited me to join the group saying I comprised that stuff "that Cramps were made of." We talked of Jack Nitzsche and happened to walk by a dwarf breathing fire.
At a party later that night my film got financed by some French ex-pats who'd built up a rockabilly clothing empire and wanted to sponsor my awesome project. Aside from providing me with rack after rack of amazing clothing, their niece, French actress Ludivine Sagnier, was interested in starring. She convinced me via a bottle of champagne and certain techniques unknown outside of certain booze-related sex cults in the Bordeaux region.
Or something of that nature, you know. The story should be true though, for maximum effect..
In other news I'm continuing to make advances in music, reading, writing, and so on... the world will be my oyster.
And I like 'em raw.
With a dash of lemon.
