It's been too long, SG friends! My last post was so long ago, it's hard to know where to begin. I guess I'll start where I left off...
I last wrote from my "epic road trip" of 2011, when we were in Forest Lake Minnesota. I had just found out I had kidney stones, and was pretty sick. I thought it was just the stones, but there were other things too, and I got worse and worse as time went on (hence the lack of blogging and shooting).
Anyway, I still had an amazing trip! There are some photos of it on my main tumblr and on instagram if you go back far enough. I met some amazing people, saw some new places (favourites include Chicago, Milwaukee, Montreal, Woodstock, Gloucester/Rockport), and shot with some photographers I admire.
Polaroid shoot for Jacques Magazine, which will probably remain unpublished:
Behind the scenes:
We drove from Tofino BC, on the far west coast of Canada, to NYC. It was amazing. We ended up camping out in our van anywhere and everywhere, including truck stops, friends' driveways, on Bedford Ave in Brooklyn, and in the rainforests of Pacific Rim National Park where this was shot, while sicker than I wanted to admit at the time. The excitement and adventure kept me going until we got home in October 2011. The trip was about 5 months long, mostly while living in a camper van. It was so amazing we're planning another trip! Our old van (pictured above) unfortunately met its end when we encountered an elk in Banff National Park. It was horrible, but we were recently able to buy an amazing Mercedes made Sprinter! It's not camperized yet, but we are working on doing that this summer.
(It's bigger than it looks, heh)
After the road trip I had the worst winter ever. There were times when I actually thought I was dying. I felt sicker and looked sicker than I ever have in my life. The kidney stones were a wakeup call, but it was just the beginning of my trying to unravel the problems and find the solutions. After some thyroid treatments I thought I was getting better and we went to Germany in the spring of 2012 for 3 months. I didn't shoot many photos there, due to being sick, but there are some on my instagram and website. Germany was even nicer than I expected. It was so green and clean and of course interesting. We stayed with friends and took road trips in their fancy cars and drank too much beer and it was lovely.
Since then I launched a new website with a new career focus. I found I could no longer handle so much shooting and computer time, so I switched to making big expensive minimalist landscape prints, with great success! I've been doing that and modeling work, and working on my health stuff. I'm simplifying everything and life is slowly getting better.
I think that's all I'll write for now. Please understand if I don't reply to all comments and messages, but I do appreciate them! I'm feeling pretty good today, and hopefully it keeps up so I can be around more, and finish the new set I'm working on.
In the meantime, find me in these other places:

Wow, just seeing this now! So glad to hear from you again, Lovonne! Sorry about your illness, but I'm glad you're on the mend. And the landscape photos are fantastic.
