Hey everyone! I have great news! The degree I just got at UCLA has allowed me to get my first job as an archaeologist. This is my childhood dream come true and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. ⚒️⛏🥽👩🏻🔬🧬
I was talking to my mom as we were looking for gear, and she told me that when I was a little kid, I’d never want her to get picture books about princess. Instead when I’d see anything about mummies, languages, humanity in general (past or present) I’d get excited.
As someone with a lot more inner child work to do, this experience has brought me closer to that little girl with a weird obsession with the classical period. The teenage me that was struggling so hard to find herself is looking at me now saying damn, thanks for having my back and supporting my dreams. All conflicting pieces of my relationship with myself seem to be coming back together, because for the first time ever I feel like I’m doing what I was born to do. Dig holes. I never would have thought I’d love being a shovel bum and I may do this for a while before I go into law because I’m having such a blast.
Mr. Sir from Holes wasn’t lying when he said “if you take a bad boy (girl) and make her dig holes all day in the hot sun, it’ll turn her into a good girl. 💕
I’d take pics on site, but unfortunately it’s not allowed, so here’s a pic of me fresh off work.
